STALKIT AS
Hereby as “The Company”
All use of The Company products are services must be performed in accordance with these Guidelines and otherwise in compliance with additional user information as provided by The Company from time to time and made available at www.StalkIT.no/guidelines. Please confer the applicable Guidelines before commencement of use.
Products type:
1st Generation = SS-N20 & CS-N20
2nd Generation = LS-NX & CS-NX
Placement:
The equipment is designed for tracking containers and other suitable cargo units. The equipment must be installed in accordance with the installation instructions.
Storage:
Any Company device (Generation 1 and/or Generation 2) not in use, should be stored in an indoor infrastructure with a minimum temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, dry environment and without high temperature exposure (e.g. direct sunlight, heating, etc.)
It should also be stored with the following configuration (the device is inactivate, in the device settings menu in the portal):
• One data transmission each 24 hours without sensors information (speed, movement, temperature)
• No GPS signal nor transmission (GPS OFF)
If these instructions are not followed during storage, the device could have unexpected battery consumption at customer’s risk.
Temperature:
The equipment is designed to operate at ambient temperature in the range of:
• Company Generation 1 device: 0 to 80 degrees Celsius.
• Company Generation 2 device: -30 to 80 degrees Celsius.
Tracking (GPS coverage):
The device works best in open sky areas such as countryside, mountain, forest, parks, and flatter regions. It can receive a GPS signal better in these areas because there is less obstruction of the GPS signal. The better line-of-sight the GPS has to the satellites, the more accurate the position will be. The device will work on a limited basis in cities where there are many high-rise buildings because the buildings decrease line of sight to the GPS signal causing errors in positioning.
If you use the device with bad or no GPS coverage, you would not receive GPS the device during that period and could have unexpected battery consumption at your own risk.
Network (NB-IoT coverage):
The device has to operate in environments with good NB-IoT coverage. Please check your NB-IoT in the region you will use your device before ordering it. For instance, in Norway, The Company produce devices with Telenor and Telia NB-IoT SIMs. However, the device is prepared to not lose information when there is no NB-IoT coverage. It will store GPS and sensors information in order to send the data to the platform when the NB-IoT coverage is recovered.
If you use the device with bad or no NB-IoT coverage, you will not receive any data from the device during that period and could have unexpected battery consumption at your own risk.
Battery:
Factors like Data transmission frequency, Temperature, NB-IoT, GPS coverage (line of sight to the sky) will affect battery cunsumption.
Depending on the device configuration (the communications frequency between the device and the platform), the battery will consume more or less battery, please use the following table for reference:
Data Transmission Frequency | GPS status | Company Generation 1 – Battery lifetime | Company Generation 2 – Battery lifetime |
24 hours | ON | 6,5 Years | 17 Years |
12 hours | ON | 5,5 Years | More than 12 Years |
6 hours | ON | 4,5 Years | 8 Years |
3 hours | ON | 3,2 Years | 4,5 Years |
1 hour | ON | 1,5 Years | 1,5 Years |
NOTE: these calculations are based in normal conditions, that means around 20ºC weather conditions and with good Network (NB-IoT) and GPS coverage. In very low temperature environments (around -30 Cº), the battery lifetime can last half of the previous estimation. This last assumption it is applicable to Generation 2 device, for Generation 1, as it is designed to work in 0 to 80 Cº environments, it would not work and last as expected in very low temperature environments.
Data transmissions amount:
Depending on the device configuration (the communications frequency between the device and the platform), the device will perform more or less data transmissions, please use the following table for reference:
Data Transmission Frequency | Company Generation 1 – Transactions number | Company Generation 2 – Transactions number |
---|---|---|
24 hours | 2.288 | 6.100 |
12 hours | 4.026 | 9.000 |
6 hours | 6.489 | 11.000 |
3 hours | 9.350 | 13.761 |
1 hour | 13.240 | 15.600 |
NOTE: these calculations are based in normal conditions, that means around 20ºC weather conditions and with good Network (NB-IoT) and GPS coverage.
Storage or long term use in areas without NB-IoT coverage, or an active device with no GPS coverage (no line of sight to the sky) is not considered use under normal conditions.
Other applicable usage guidelines and instructions can be found in the instruction manual / delivery description that accompanies the relevant product and should be complied to.
